Bengaluru Traffic Police Book 774 Motorists in Week-Long Special Drive

The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) registered 774 cases across the city during a week-long special enforcement drive targeting drunk driving and speeding, conducted from August 17 to 23.

Traffic personnel from all 53 traffic police stations across Bengaluru participated in the coordinated enforcement campaign aimed at improving road safety.

During the drive against drunk driving, police personnel inspected a total of 38,027 vehicles. Following the checks, 596 cases were registered against motorists who were found driving or riding under the influence of alcohol.

In a separate enforcement operation targeting speeding across the city, the police registered 178 cases against motorists exceeding speed limits. In total, the traffic police collected Rs 1.79 lakh in fines from violators during the week-long initiative.

Officials stated that the enforcement campaign was aimed at curbing drunk driving and speeding, which remain among the primary causes of road accidents in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police noted that special enforcement drives would continue across the city to deter motorists from violating traffic regulations and to enhance overall road safety.
