Bengaluru Schools Go Online and Cut Hours Due to Shivakumar Swearing-In Traffic Curbs

Several schools in Bengaluru adjusted their schedules and shifted to online classes on Wednesday in response to traffic restrictions imposed for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister, Shivakumar. The anticipated traffic snarls across the city led school administrators to take precautionary measures to avoid major disruptions.
In the Kanakapura Road area, Delhi Public School-Bangalore South opted to conduct its classes virtually. Principal Anitha Bijesh stated that the decision was finalized after traffic police officials formally notified the school that road restrictions would be in place.
According to Principal Bijesh, the primary goal was to ensure that students and parents would not face severe inconvenience due to the traffic regulations. At the same time, the administration wanted to ensure that learning was not disrupted, leading to the decision to hold classes online.
The school sent a detailed note to parents explaining the situation. The notice warned that the traffic restrictions along Kanakapura Road would remain in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., a timeframe that would have directly impacted the morning and afternoon commutes of students and staff.
Meanwhile, other educational institutions in the city opted for early closures. Bishop Cotton Boys School decided to operate on a half-day schedule on Wednesday. The school sent out a communication informing parents that classes would conclude early at 12:30 p.m.
Following the early closure, the school buses were scheduled to depart the premises by 12:45 p.m. The administration also announced that the school's main office would close early at 2 p.m. on Wednesday to ensure everyone could navigate the city before the traffic situation worsened.
