Bengaluru Prepares for Eid Milad-un-Nabi on August 26 with Curbs and Volunteers

Bengaluru is set to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi on August 26 with an emphasis on discipline and interfaith harmony, including a major congregation organised by Sunni Jamiatul Ulama All Karnataka at the Quddus Saheb Eidgah on Miller’s Road. The event will begin at 6 pm after Maghrib prayers with religious discourses and community gatherings marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.

Organisers have instituted strict guidelines to maintain decorum and ensure smooth public movement. Around 250 dedicated volunteers have been deployed to oversee security, stage management, procession handling, and traffic management at the Eidgah. Jumma Masjid Trustee Usman Shariff stated that volunteer teams will coordinate directly with police and traffic authorities.

According to Shariff, clear directives have been issued to prohibit DJs, dancing, firecrackers, and provocative sloganeering. The celebrations aim to highlight peace, tolerance, compassion, and community harmony. In addition to religious scholars delivering sermons, Swamijis and Archbishops are also expected to deliver messages during the events.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru traffic police have put widespread vehicular restrictions and diversions in place on August 26. Large crowds are expected to gather at the YMCA Ground on Nrupatunga Road between 12 pm and 11 pm for the main procession.

Traffic diversions will impact key central stretches including Nrupatunga Road, Kasturba Road, JC Road, RRMR Road, KG Road, NR Road, and Mallya Hospital Road. In North Bengaluru, traffic police have notified diversions around Jayamahal, Dinnur, RT Nagar, Nagawara, Tannery Road, Haines Road, and Shivajinagar depending on the movement of the procession.

Heavy vehicles entering Bengaluru from Magadi Main Road, Nagarabhavi, Hosakerehalli Toll, and Doddabele will face restrictions between 12 pm and 11 pm.
