Bengaluru Police Conduct Surprise Checks on Nearly 500 Rowdy-Sheeters

Bengaluru City Police’s Anti-Rowdy Squads launched a special drive and conducted late-night surprise checks on nearly 500 listed rowdies across the city, including areas such as Bandepalya, Begur, Parappana Agrahara, Chandra Layout, and Srirampura.

The operations took place late on Friday night across four major divisions: north, west, southwest, and Electronics City. Officers inspected a total of 487 individuals across these jurisdictions.

According to police figures, the highest number of checks occurred in the west division, where 162 rowdy-sheeters were inspected. Squads checked 137 individuals in the southwest division, 121 in the north division, and 67 in the Electronics City division.

The exercise was primarily carried out within police station limits identified as notorious. Officers conducted the checks to verify that rowdies were not in possession of firearms or any other deadly weapons. In addition, police checked numerous individuals listed on long-pending registers.

During the drive, officers reviewed the legal status of individuals with ongoing court cases. After discovering that several rowdies had been missing their court proceedings, police issued strict directions ordering them to attend their respective scheduled hearings.

The surprise inspections follow a murder that took place in Madiwala last week, which investigators suspect was the result of an old rivalry. Deadly weapons were used in that incident. In the wake of the killing, Bengaluru police have issued stern warnings to rowdies across the city to refrain from participating in any unlawful activities.
