Bengaluru Police Book Three K.R. Puram Land Surveyors Over Process Irregularities

The Bengaluru police have booked three government surveyors attached to the K.R. Puram Assistant Director of Land Records office following an internal department inquiry that flagged alleged irregularities in the processing of 103 land survey-related applications. An FIR has been registered at the Halasur Gate Police Station regarding the matter.

The accused officials have been identified as Shivashankar, Arun Kumar, and Manjunath, who were stationed as surveyors at the K.R. Puram facility. According to the FIR, the department initiated its probe after receiving specific allegations against Manjunath, leading officials to inspect his login and transaction history recorded on the Bhoomi online portal.

The broader internal inquiry was ordered after the Deputy Director of Land Records directed officials to gather details regarding all complaints received against surveyors. The directive also covered cases that had been uploaded without required sketches by both government and licensed surveyors across the Bengaluru urban district over the previous eight months.

A detailed review conducted by the Bhoomi Monitoring Cell examined the 103 flagged cases and uncovered multiple procedural violations. The inquiry report alleged that the transactions involved serious irregularities during application processing and that the movement of files indicated the possible involvement of multiple persons. The report also stated that several applications had allegedly been processed while bypassing actual regulatory mandates.

In addition to procedural lapses, the monitoring team identified a direct financial loss to the state government in the form of uncollected fees. The department estimated the total loss across the 103 cases at ₹77,075. Departmental officials raised concerns that similar processing irregularities could have taken place in other districts as well, advocating for a detailed examination of land-related transactions statewide.

The complainant has formally requested that authorities determine the full extent of involvement and exact roles of all officials and operators who participated in processing the applications. Halasur Gate police are handling the ongoing investigation.
