Bengaluru Police Arrest Mother Over Murder of Five-Year-Old Daughter Vennela

A 39-year-old advocate, Priyanka, has been arrested from a farmhouse in Sakleshpur in connection with the murder of her five-year-old daughter, Vennela, following a case registered at the Kadugodi police station in Bengaluru. Police are investigating if the mother's alleged dissatisfaction with her daughter's skin complexion was a motive behind the killing.
Priyanka and her live-in partner, Mohan G, were booked on charges of murder following a complaint filed by the child's father. Mohan, who is the prime accused in the case, was arrested earlier by the police.
The child was found dead on March 25. Following the registration of the case on June 4 at the Kadugodi police station, Priyanka allegedly fled Bengaluru to evade arrest. Police stated she initially travelled to Mysuru before moving to a farmhouse in Sakleshpur, where she was eventually apprehended on Thursday.
According to a senior police official, Mohan confessed during interrogation to killing the child by assaulting and smothering her inside a car. Investigators are currently questioning Priyanka to determine the circumstances of Vennela's death, the exact motive, and whether she was part of the conspiracy.
The police are also probing whether Priyanka's alleged dissatisfaction with her daughter's skin colour played a role in the murder.
The girl's father filed the police complaint after Priyanka reportedly provided contradictory accounts of how Vennela died. Initially, Priyanka claimed the child ate biryani on the night of March 24 and was found dead the following morning.
Later, she allegedly told the father that Vennela had been left asleep in an air-conditioned car while she and Mohan celebrated her birthday at a cafe in Kolar. She claimed the child was found dead the next day after being brought home.
Suspecting that the accused had intentionally killed his daughter and attempted to destroy evidence, the father approached the police. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
