Bengaluru Police Arrest 39 Suspects and Seize Rs 28 Crore in Narcotics

Bengaluru Police have arrested 39 suspects and seized illicit narcotics with an estimated recovery value of Rs 28.07 crore following a sustained two-week enforcement drive across several city neighborhoods, including Hebbal. Police officials announced the results of the coordinated operation on Monday, adding that the total open market value of the seized contraband is estimated at Rs 55.80 crore.

The sustained drive was led by the Central Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Wing under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police L Y Rajesh. Officers executed targeted raids at key locations after receiving actionable intelligence from informants. Police teams from various local jurisdictions participated in the enforcement actions, including personnel from the Hebbal, Amruthahalli, Yelahanka, Yeshwanthpur, Girinagar, Airport, Nandini Layout, Kadugodi, Malleswaram, Govindapura, Bagaluru, Mahadevapura, Mahalakshmi Layout, Begur, and Kothanur police stations.

The arrested individuals include eight foreign nationals, 21 people from other Indian states, and 10 local residents. During the searches, police recovered a wide range of prohibited substances, including 21 kilograms and 641 grams of MDMA, 738 grams of cocaine, 4 kilograms and 493 grams of hydro ganja, and 184 kilograms and 625 grams of ganja. Officers also confiscated 1 kilogram and 65 grams of opium alongside 25 grams of morphine.

Alongside the drugs, law enforcement officers impounded Rs 17 lakh in cash currency, 22 mobile phones, and five two-wheelers that were allegedly utilised by the suspects to transport and deal narcotics.

During police interrogation, the suspects confessed that they procured the contraband at low prices from unidentified suppliers located in foreign countries, other domestic states, and within Karnataka. Operating with the motive of securing rapid financial gains, the accused targeted the general public and local college students, selling the drugs at significantly marked-up rates.

Following the arrests, all 39 suspects were produced before a local court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Bengaluru Police confirmed that investigations remain ongoing as law enforcement authorities continue efforts to trace and apprehend the unidentified network suppliers who provided the prohibited substances to the accused.
