Bengaluru Police Arrest 39 and Seize Drugs Worth Rs 55.8 Crore

The Bengaluru City Police and the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested 39 people and seized over 200 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 55.80 crore during a week-long operation across the city, including key busts by stations in Amruthahalli and Girinagar.

In one major action, the Amruthahalli police arrested two men in Delhi following a tip-off linked to a previous case. The suspects were identified as Omni Singh, a native of Delhi, and Obam, a Nigerian national. Police seized 14.4 kilograms of MDMA valued at Rs 28.8 crore from the duo. Officers stated that the accused allegedly manufactured the drugs in Delhi and supplied them to students and local customers in Bengaluru.

In another operation, the Girinagar police arrested a French national, Demba Jouma Francis, who was residing in Yelahanka. Police recovered 4.37 kilograms of MDMA worth around Rs 10.36 crore from his possession. According to the police, Francis allegedly procured the drugs from African nationals in Delhi before selling them to known customers in Bengaluru.

The week-long operation involved 14 police stations across Bengaluru alongside the CCB. Out of the 39 people arrested, eight are foreign nationals, 21 are from other Indian states, and 10 are residents of Karnataka.

The total contraband seized during the drive includes 21.6 kilograms of MDMA, 184.6 kilograms of ganja, 4.9 kilograms of hydro ganja, 1.6 kilograms of opium, 738 grams of cocaine, and 25 grams of morphine. The drugs have a stated value of Rs 28.07 crore and an estimated market value of Rs 55.80 crore.

Police officers also seized Rs 17 lakh in cash, 22 mobile phones, and five two-wheelers from the accused individuals.
