Bengaluru Police Announce Traffic Diversions Near Brigade Road for June 26 Muharram

The Bengaluru Police have announced temporary traffic diversions within the limits of the Ashok Nagar Traffic Police Station, including Brigade Road, Richmond Road, Vellara Junction, and Hosur Road, to facilitate a Muharram procession on June 26, 2026. The traffic restrictions and rerouting will be in effect from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to ensure public safety and allow the smooth movement of the procession.
According to the official traffic advisory, general traffic and heavy vehicles will be temporarily rerouted to alternative roads. Motorists who are travelling towards Hosur Road via Brigade Road and Richmond Road through Vellara Junction, also known as Shoolay Circle, will not be permitted to proceed directly along their usual route.
Instead, these motorists are required to take a left turn at the Old Police Station Junction. From this point, they must travel via Wood Street, Tate Lane, and Richmond Road to reach Richmond Circle. After reaching Richmond Circle, commuters can continue their journey via Shantinagar Junction, Langford Road, Nanjappa Circle, and CMP Junction to finally reach Hosur Road.
For motorists travelling on Hosur Road from the Adugodi side, a different diversion plan has been established. These vehicles must take a left turn at Cemetery Cross near Anepalya Junction. From there, they are instructed to proceed via Berlie Street, Langford Road, Nanjappa Circle, and Shantinagar. As an alternative, motorists coming from this direction may also use Rhenius Street to reach Richmond Road and then continue towards their respective destinations.
The police have also laid out specific diversion routes for heavy vehicles. Heavy vehicles approaching from the Hosur Road side will be diverted at Adugodi Junction. From there, they must travel via MICO Junction, 8th Main Road, Wilson Garden Main Road, and Siddaiah Road before they can proceed further to their destinations.
The traffic advisory was published on June 24, 2026, to give commuters ample time to plan their travel through the affected areas.
