Bengaluru PG owner killed with cricket bat in Ramamurthy Nagar over water dispute

A paying guest (PG) accommodation owner was assaulted and killed with a cricket bat following a dispute over the use of tap water near Kasturinagar Main Road, within the Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits in Bengaluru, on Monday evening. The incident occurred between 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. The Bengaluru police have arrested two college students in connection with the murder.

The deceased has been identified as Madhav Matle, a native of Andhra Pradesh, who ran the Lakshmi Narasimha PG near Kasturinagar Main Road.

According to the police, the two accused individuals are Rakesh, a 21-year-old final-year B.Com student and resident of RS Palya, and Don Brite Son, a 20-year-old first-year BBA student residing in Jeevanahalli.

The confrontation began when the two students, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, were returning home. Noticing that their legs were dirty, they entered the premises of Lakshmi Narasimha PG with the intention of washing them using the outdoor tap water.

Matle observed the duo using the tap inside the PG premises and objected to their actions. This led to a heated argument between the PG owner and the two students.

During the altercation, Matle allegedly picked up a cricket bat to attack the two students. However, the duo managed to snatch the bat away from Matle. They then allegedly used the same cricket bat to assault him before fleeing the scene.

Matle sustained severe injuries during the attack. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following his death, the Ramamurthy Nagar police registered a murder case. Officers analyzed CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the suspects. Both Rakesh and Don Brite Son were subsequently arrested and taken into police custody for further investigation.
