Bengaluru Man Confesses to Killing Six-Year-Old Girl Over Spilled Ice Cream
A six-year-old girl, P Vennela, was killed after her mother’s live-in partner allegedly assaulted and smothered her over spilled ice cream following a family outing in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. The prime suspect, Mohan GN, confessed to the police that he struck the child in the stomach and muffled her cries inside their vehicle, leading to her death.
The incident occurred on March 24, after Mohan, Priyanka (the child's mother), and Vennela visited shops and eateries in and around Indiranagar. Late that night, the trio drove to Hoskote in their multiutility vehicle (MUV) for a dinner of biryani and ice cream. On their return journey, Vennela accidentally spilled her dessert on the car seat and foot mat.
According to the police, Mohan confessed that he hit the child in the stomach with his elbow in a fit of rage when she began crying for a different cone. He then tightly shut her mouth to muffle her loud cries. A histopathology report later indicated internal injuries in Vennela's abdomen. Investigators stated that a combination of these severe internal injuries and smothering caused her death.
The police arrested Mohan, a realtor, on June 4, following a murder complaint filed by Vennela's father, Praveen. Mohan is currently in 10-day police custody. Priyanka, who works as an advocate, remains elusive.
The investigation has exposed a web of strained relationships. Praveen, an educationist who lives in Davanagere with his elder daughter, alleged in his complaint that Priyanka met Mohan in November 2025, claiming he was her "old lover." In January, Priyanka allegedly forced Praveen to sign divorce papers. Mohan, who is married with two children, abandoned his family to move into a luxury villa in east Bengaluru with Priyanka that same month.
Before the tragedy, Mohan's legal wife had tracked down the couple and engaged in a bitter public altercation with Priyanka. Priyanka and Mohan had also gone on a trip to Madurai and neighbouring towns from March 21 to 24, just before taking Vennela on the fatal outing.
Police are currently putting the MUV through advanced forensic testing to corroborate Mohan's confession with physical evidence. The forensic report is still awaited.
