Bengaluru Commutes and Late Nights Triggering Migraine Attacks

A growing number of residents and commuters in Whitefield and across Bengaluru are experiencing migraine attacks triggered by daily lifestyle factors, including long commutes, late nights, and skipped meals. Neurologists in the city have warned that these routine urban stressors are increasingly acting as triggers for individuals predisposed to the condition.

The fast-paced urban lifestyle of Bengaluru is characterized by notorious traffic, endless work calls, late-night shifts, and irregular meal timings. Medical professionals report that these factors are doing far more than just causing fatigue among the local working population, directly leading to an increase in migraine attacks.

Dr. Satishchandra P, a neurologist at Apollo Speciality Hospitals in Jayanagar, emphasized the connection between daily routines and neurological health. He stated that migraine is not merely a headache but is largely a lifestyle disorder. According to Dr. Satishchandra, people today are constantly chasing deadlines, spending hours commuting, and working across different time zones.

This demanding schedule leaves residents with very little time to relax. The combination of chronic stress, poor sleep, and a lack of recovery is what drives these painful attacks. Currently, migraine affects nearly 12% to 15% of adults, marking it as a significant health issue linked to stressful daily lifestyles and long travel times.
