BDA to Open 10.3 Km Dedicated Cycling Corridor on Magadi Road-Mysuru Road Link

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is currently constructing a 10.3 km dedicated bicycle track along the Major Arterial Road connecting Magadi Road and Mysuru Road in Bengaluru. The new infrastructure project, designed to improve safety for cyclists by providing a dedicated transit route, is scheduled to be inaugurated on June 27.
The cycling corridor is being developed along the service road of the new 11 km Major Arterial Road (MAR) project. BDA officials confirmed that the dedicated bicycle lane will run across nearly the entire length of the MAR corridor, with the only exception being the underpass stretch along the route. Once completed, it will stand as one of the longest dedicated bicycle tracks in the city.
The construction work has now entered its final phase. According to officials, the main road construction is in an advanced stage. Workers are currently focused on completing the final details of the project, which includes the installation of road signages, the application of lane markings, and the painting of underpasses along the corridor.
The official opening of the Major Arterial Road and its cycling track is planned to take place during the upcoming Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations on June 27.
This new dedicated track represents a significant development for the local cycling community in Bengaluru. Over recent years, dedicated cycling infrastructure across the city has faced a steady reduction. Much of this decline has been attributed to the construction of the Metro network, which displaced existing cycling lanes along several of Bengaluru's major transit corridors.
By introducing this new 10.3 km track, BDA officials state that the Magadi Road to Mysuru Road corridor will help reverse this trend. The project is expected to offer local cyclists a much-needed safer, more reliable, and completely dedicated transit option.
