BCCC Launches GPS Tracking Pilot for 138 Waste Auto-Tippers in Shanthinagar

A GPS-based tracking pilot project covering 138 auto-tippers used for door-to-door waste collection has been launched in the Shanthinagar Division by the Bengaluru Central City Corporation (BCCC).

The initiative was rolled out with corporate social responsibility support from Intel Technology India Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with the organisation Let’s Be The Change (LBTC) and technology partner Brain Above Pvt Ltd.

The new tracking system is designed to enhance the overall efficiency of the door-to-door waste collection network across the division. According to an official, the technology enables civic authorities to effectively monitor whether the collection vehicles are operating strictly along their designated routes and executing their collection duties properly.

Under the pilot system, the movement and daily functioning of the waste collection vehicles are tracked in real time through the centralised command centre of BSWML. This setup provides officials with accurate, live information regarding vehicle positions, allowing them to take prompt corrective measures whenever deviations or operational delays occur.

Officials noted that continuous GPS monitoring of the auto-tippers will strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency across the municipal service delivery system. The tracking mechanism is also expected to help administrators identify specific lapses in daily waste collection schedules and immediately implement required interventions.
