Banaswadi police arrest habitual offender wanted in 67 cases across Karnataka

The Banaswadi police have arrested a 38-year-old habitual offender in Banaswadi, Bengaluru, in connection with a recent house break-in. The arrested man, who has been identified as Syed Basha, is a resident of Kadugodi. Following his apprehension, local police investigators discovered that Basha was a wanted criminal with as many as 67 criminal cases filed against him across Karnataka.
According to law enforcement officials, Basha had been actively evading court proceedings and was absconding in more than 30 non-bailable warrant (NBW) cases. In addition to these warrants, he was also wanted and absconding in over five proclamation cases registered against him in various parts of the state.
The investigation that eventually led to Basha's arrest began after a resident of HRBR Layout in Bengaluru lodged a formal complaint with the Banaswadi police on March 23. The complainant alleged that an unidentified man had broken into his home while the family was away. According to the complaint, the intruder had managed to break open the terrace door of the house to gain entry and subsequently stole Rs 10,000 in cash from a cupboard inside the residence.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Banaswadi police registered a house break-in case and launched a detailed investigation to identify and track down the culprit. The police team gathered critical clues using technical analysis and actively leveraged their local informer networks to locate the suspect.
Acting on credible information obtained through these investigative efforts, a police team successfully tracked down and secured Basha near Bagalur on June 16.
During his subsequent interrogation, the police found that Basha had a long criminal history, with around 67 cases registered against him in Bengaluru city, Kolar, and Yadgir districts. Following the interrogation, Basha was remanded to judicial custody.
