Analysis Finds 93.7% of Electors Flagged for Removal at Sarvagnanagar Polling Booth

A data analysis of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has revealed that 93.71% of voters at a polling booth in Sarvagnanagar in Bangalore North were placed on the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate, and Others list.

The analysis, conducted by IT professionals under the Mandate Analytics & Consulting umbrella, examined the 2023 Assembly Election roll for Shanthi Children School, Room No. 1. Out of 1,129 registered electors at the booth, 1,058 were marked in the ASDDO list, leading to a massive exclusion rate.

MAC identified 3,372 polling booths across Karnataka where more than 50% of electors from the 2023 roll were flagged. Several other Bengaluru booths showed significant removal rates. At Sunshine English School, Room No. 02, in Malleshwaram, 916 out of 1,867 electors were removed, representing an 85.85% removal rate. At Government Higher Primary School, New Building, Room No. 7, in Thiru Palya in Bengaluru South, 577 of 696 electors were removed, a rate of 82.9%.

Three Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Urban recorded overall removal rates above 50%. Bommanahalli recorded the highest removal rate at 56%, with 2,68,844 voters removed. Vijay Nagar followed at 53.4% with 1,68,663 voters removed, and Dasarahalli recorded a 52.9% removal rate with 2,47,962 voters removed.

Tauseef Ahmed of MAC noted that ground-level officials have cited migration as the primary reason for these exclusions, but questioned the scale of the numbers. Syed Salman, another MAC team member, pointed out that Booth Level Officers faced heavy workloads and physical challenges during the verification drive, leading to cases where people who had not collected forms were placed on the list.

Across Karnataka, the SIR 2026 exercise flagged 1,08,75,304 electors—amounting to 19.62% of the state's electoral roll—for deletion across 57,969 booths. Of these, 90,78,510 were flagged for other reasons, while 16,01,790 were identified as deceased. Untraceable or absent electors totaled 15,12,445, with Bommanahalli recording the highest number of untraceable electors in the city at 1,00,435.
