Amazon India Creates Over 1.6 Lakh Seasonal Jobs Ahead of Festive Season

Amazon India announced on Wednesday that it has created more than 1,60,000 seasonal work opportunities across its pan-India operations network to prepare for the upcoming festive season. The seasonal roles will support both its e-commerce and quick commerce operations.

The direct and indirect work opportunities span 400 cities across India, including large metropolitan hubs as well as tier 2 and tier 3 cities such as Varanasi, Kochi, Jalandhar, Ghaziabad, and Ranchi.

The new associates will join Amazon's logistics network to assist in picking, packing, shipping, and delivering customer orders during the surge in festive shopping. Amazon confirmed it has already onboarded the majority of these workers and initiated their training.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye, said the seasonal expansion is designed to provide fast and reliable deliveries across every pin code in the country while building an inclusive workforce that includes opportunities for women and persons with disabilities.

Singh added that the expanded workforce will strengthen fulfillment and logistics capabilities, noting that many seasonal associates either continue working with the company beyond the festive period or return in subsequent years.

Staffing firm NLB Services also projected that festive hiring across India will grow by 15 to 20 percent, leading to an estimated 2 to 2.5 lakh seasonal and gig opportunities during the period, driven by demand for freshers, first-time workers, and flexible shift roles.
