31-Year-Old Runner Dies During Nandi Hills Monsoon Marathon

A 31-year-old runner collapsed and died during the Nandi Hills monsoon marathon held on Sunday, August 9, at Nandi Hills.

The deceased was identified by police officials as Amandeep Singh Jagade, who had registered for the 21.1k half marathon category. According to police, Jagade had completed most of the run before he collapsed.

Following his collapse, volunteers and race organisers rushed him to the Sree Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Muddenahalli. Doctors at the institute were unable to revive him and declared him dead.

A senior police official stated that doctors suspect the death was caused by a sudden cardiac arrest. Jagade's family members have been informed, and a post-mortem examination is being conducted. His body will be handed over to his family after the procedure is completed.

Police officials stated that Jagade originally hailed from Punjab and was working at a private company in Bengaluru.

The event featured two categories: the 21.1k half marathon and the 10k run. The race was flagged off by G. Parameshwara, Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports.

The marathon was organised by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, the Bengaluru Rural Administration, and private companies including J.J. Active and DivyaSree’s Whispers of the Wind.
