23-Year-Old Arrested for Killing Stepfather in Shivapura

A 23-year-old man was arrested by the police for allegedly murdering his stepfather using a motorcycle shock absorber rod during a domestic dispute in Shivapura, located on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The accused, identified as Uday Kumar, allegedly attacked his stepfather, Sridhar, following a violent altercation at their residence on Tuesday. According to police, Sridhar was an alcoholic who frequently assaulted his wife, Deena, during domestic quarrels, leading to persistent tension within the household.

The confrontation unfolded on Tuesday when Sridhar allegedly attempted to attack Deena with a pair of scissors. Uday Kumar intervened to protect his mother, triggering a heated argument between the two men. Driven by anger over previous disputes, Uday allegedly grabbed a motorcycle shock absorber rod and struck Sridhar on the head three times, inflicting severe injuries.

Sridhar was rushed to a private hospital for emergency medical treatment but subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Police stated that Deena had separated from her first husband and married Sridhar approximately 22 years ago. Uday, her son from her first marriage, resided with the couple in Shivapura alongside Sridhar and Deena’s two other children, Darshan and Kanchana.

Following Sridhar’s death, the Madanayakanahalli police registered a case and took Uday into custody. The victim's body was transferred to Victoria Hospital for a postmortem examination and was handed over to the family on Wednesday. Police confirmed that further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
