According to the Varthur police, both Das and Nawaz had previously studied together at a school in Nallurahalli and had known each other for the past three years.

The police stated that the incident occurred on Thursday when Nawaz allegedly entered Das's residence at the Chinnathayappa Building while she was alone in the house. A heated quarrel broke out between the two teenagers. The argument reportedly started because Das had recently distanced herself from Nawaz, as her family did not approve of their relationship.
