11-Year-Old Mysuru Wushu Athlete Pranathi G Sets Sights on 2032 Olympics

Eleven-year-old Wushu player Pranathi G, a Class 6 student at Police Public School in Mysuru, is setting her sights on competing at the Asian Games and winning a gold medal at the 2032 Olympic Games after securing multiple state, national, and international honours.

Pranathi began her martial arts journey at the age of four. Originally intending to take up Kalaripayattu, she was deemed too young to begin training and was instead enrolled in Wushu classes at Chamundi Vihar Stadium. She currently trains under Parthipa Master and Darshan Master, spending nearly five hours every day in training sessions held from 6:00 am to 8:30 am and 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Her competitive record includes six gold medals and one silver medal at the State Championship level, alongside three bronze medals and one silver medal at the National Championships. She has also won an international gold medal. Last year, Pranathi secured an international gold and a Khelo India State gold within the span of one week.

Her performances earned her an entry into the Limca Book of Records as India’s youngest medallist in a National Wushu Championship. Her achievements have also been recorded in the India World Records, India Book of Records, and Karnataka Achievers Book of Records.

Pranathi has received several state and regional recognitions, including the Mysuru District Rajyotsava Award in 2022, the district-level Hoysala and Keladi Chennamma Award from the Department of Women and Child Development, and the Saalumarada Thimmakka National Greenery Bal Puraskar-2024, in addition to the Balashree and Mysuru Ratna awards.

Beyond competing, Pranathi was invited by the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing in 2022 and 2023 to teach Wushu to children with special needs, their siblings, and caregivers. Along with her athletic ambitions, she topped her class academically last year and aims to become an IPS officer.
